Far Infrared Sauna by Jeff Caulfield Cathetel Staff Writer
We've all heard the expression, `if you can't stand the heat then get out
of the kitchen.' But, if you can't stand the heat then should you get out
of the sauna?
Recently, I discovered that my body was filled with toxins like lead,
cadmium, mercury and arsenic. My doctor suggested purchasing a Far
Infrared Sauna to sweat them out. I did and it has helped me tremendously!
The age old sauna has existed in a variety of forms for thousands of
years. The word `sauna' comes from the ancient country of Finland. The
Scandinavians view the sauna as an integral part of their life and use it
almost daily. Native North Americans enjoy their `sweat lodges' and know
of the relief gained by exposing the body to periods of elevated heat.
Removing impurities and cleansing the body made them whole again.
Unfortunately, most people that live in a northern climate do not sweat
enough in their day-to-day existence. We liberally put creams and
antiperspirants on our body to stop us from sweating and if we don't sweat,
then impurities cannot be removed and in fact can find a place to store
themselves in the body; namely your flesh and bones. Hence, sooner or
later you can develop a toxic overload which can lead to many illnesses
such as: chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, lead/mercury poisoning
and widespread pain. Remember, the skin is the largest organ of the body
and needs to be clear to sweat and remove toxic elements.
Why use a Far Infrared Sauna? Think of its heat as natural. It is
reflected by sand on every beach worldwide. The higher the silica (glass)
content of the sand, the hotter the beach. A company (Saunaray) that makes
Far Infrared Saunas puts it this way: `Imagine a hot summer's day. You're
under scorching sun walking on a beach that's too hot for your bare feet,
so you jump onto the grass to cool them down. Why is the grass cooler when
it's under the same sun? It's because the silica in the sand naturally
reflects heat from the sun, and our bodies naturally absorb it. This is
far infrared at work in nature.'
Infrared heat is essential for all life. Far Infrared Sauna heat provides
the healthy benefits of natural sunlight without any of the dangerous
effects of solar radiation and damaging ultra-violet rays. Glass, like
sand, emits far infrared rays naturally. Sand and glass are the natural
components of ceramic, which - as mentioned - emits infrared waves without
dangerous UV rays.
Far Infrared Saunas are better than steam saunas for a number of reasons:
Far infrared warms the body directly instead of just heating the air as in
steam saunas. Steam saunas require higher temperatures and many people
find their breathing laboured after only a short time in one which means
they vacate the sauna sooner. People tend to stay longer and sweat more in
a Far Infrared one as the breathing environment is quite comfortable. (I
know this to be true as I can comfortably sit in my sauna for almost an
hour and sweat profusely with no trouble breathing) Steam saunas merely
heat the skin but do not penetrate deeply into the body like Far Infrared
ones. This in turn draws out more toxins. Infrared dry heat is mold and
mildew free and more sanitary than a regular sauna because it will not
spread and cultivate bacteria. Also, Doctor Aundrea Adams of the
International Institute of Holistic healing compared the detoxification
findings of steam saunas and far infrared ones. She found sweat generated
by a steam sauna was composed of up to 97% water while sweat released
after an Far Infrared Sauna experience was only composed of 80-85% water.
The remaining sweat was composed of heavy metals and fat soluble toxins -
exactly what you want removed!
For the temporary relief of minor muscle and joint pain, arthritis, and
muscle spasms, stiffness and elimination of nasty toxins that pollute our
bodies on a daily basis then a far infrared sauna is the answer for you.
So, enjoy your heat without having to get out of the sauna!!
Ed Note: Infrared heat is generated by the body and performs as a
natural healing energy. Incited by cold temperatures, it is a byproduct
of Ice Healing Therapy.
